Today is the halfway mark of our travels. We are officially starting on our way home from this point onwards.
And, in preparation for our move to Nannup tomorrow there were lots of household chores to be done. Clothes, towels and sheets all washed, dried and put away. The sun is only shining every now and then, so I had to place the washing into the dryer. Thank goodness it is a big industrial model, or I would have been spending a small fortune.
Once again, Russ chatted with mum while I was doing this.
An update on our Spook pussy cat. She needs drops in her ears for the next ten days. I don’t know if I have already written that. However, as we know, Brett does not have a great deal of patience when things don’t go his way because his anxiety and PTSD kick in and he is no good at all.
So, he tried to put the first of the drops into Spook’s ears, but she most definitely was not co-operating. Enter Jeannie onto the scene – and the drops were put in without too much hassle. Jeannie now has the job.
She tells me she waits until Spook goes to sleep for the morning then sneaks up on her and the drops are in her ears before she is even partially awake. Mind you, this also means that Jeannie is only sometimes now the preferred knee while the drops continue. I can honestly say I am glad I don’t have the hassle. Thank you, Jeannie.
A whole heap of vans arrived late yesterday afternoon, and a few more have come in this morning. It is starting to look much fuller. We had a van close to us during the week which left yesterday morning, so no other vans have come down to our section.
The unknown bird we encountered the other day at Lake Kepwari is not a Carnaby Cockatoo but the very scarce Baudin’s Black Cockatoo. We only discovered this when we checked the photos and noticed that the ring around the eye was pink. This is the determining feature of the rare and endangered Baudin’s Cockatoo. They also have a slightly longer beak than the Carnaby’s Cockatoo.
More photos to be edited tonight while I listen to the Crows versus Doggies on the radio. The other games have been fairly one-sided after a close start. I am happy that the Brisbane Lions have been beaten by Sydney, and I hope they get beaten again in the next game. It is always nice when teams who haven’t won for a while get a chance.
If Dockers are going to get to the Grand Final, they have a lot of work to be done. Carlton was gracious in defeat but the long road they travelled was telling at the end and they were not as fresh as the Cat’s legs. I would also be quite happy if Hawthorn doesn’t make it, but that is a pie in the sky wish, I think.
Chinese for tea tonight and there will be enough of a serving to also be tea tomorrow night.
