Day 82 – Monday, 7 September – Nannup

We both slept very well after our travels and the park is ever so quiet. I think we can definitely enjoy being here.

Today I went up to the office after breakfast to have a look at the tourist information offerings. There is a section of land just outside town that is a dedicated Wildflower Walk so we decided to pay it a visit. There are three walks through the bushland, and we took the shortest one today.

We also took a tour of the township. There are two places you can buy groceries, a bakery, pharmacy, hardware and several other speciality shops just for tourists.

The caravan park is most definitely on the valley floor and once you go past the main street you start climbing up.

When we drove back from our successful walk, we found that the magpies – mum, dad and two young – and the Port Lincoln parrots were visiting around our van. I immediately placed some bird seed out for all of them, and they graciously posed for photos while eating.

Russ was disturbed during the night by a Brush Bronzewing pigeon who didn’t stop ‘hoo-ing’ all night. I can usually manage to block this sort of thing out until Russ brings it to my attention once more. Let’s hope it will be a bit quieter tonight.

Ann texted around lunchtime to say that Trevor, Russell’s brother, had a successful operation. They are trying a different method to handle his Parkinson’s Disease, so our prayers and thoughts are with them.

We have checked out the tourist info available and there are a lot of places we can drive to in National and State Parks to investigate for more wildflowers quite close to Nannup.
